Tim Arnold's Pinball Hall of Fame - 4/10/2009 - Las Vegas, NV

Ever since our first visit with Dave in March 2008, Andy and I have made this a must-see every time we are in Vegas. This place is fantastic. There are pinball and video machines that we played in our younger years as well as some older ones we never saw before. This is a no frills place where the focus is on the beauty of the machines!

Red Rock Canyon - 4/10/2009 - Las Vegas, NV

We went back to Red Rock Canyon which is just minutes west of The Strip. This park reinforces why the Beautiful American Southwest is so beautiful. Since it is Spring, we spotted several desert flowers - new life in the desert. We also saw some dead plants that looked like troops of aliens throughout the landscape. (I really need to read up on desert flora.)

Day 1 - 4/9/2009 - Las Vegas

We had an 8:45 PM EST flight out of CLE to LAS. While waiting at the gate, Andy had a brush with greatness when Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman walked by, heading toward the higher gates of the Continental terminal. I unfortunately missed it since I was in the restroom.

The flight was on time and we arrived in Las Vegas at 10:02 PM PST. The flight was fairly smooth - a few air pockets here and there - but nothing noteworthy. Although we had dinner, we both expected that we would get a substantial snack like a small hamburger or sandwich. However, all we were given were pretzels. We slept a bit and watched a Disney movie called Bolt. It was very entertaining and not a bad in-flight movie.

After arriving, we collected our checked luggage and took the shuttle to the rental car building. There, it took Andy 1/2 hour to get a rental car. You can ask him about it next time you see him. Well, by that time, it was 11:30 PM PST or, more realistically, 2:30 AM EST. We were hungry and wanted a midnight snack. I will leave that for the next post.

When Andy found out the date of his business trip and I realized that it was around the same time as my company's holiday and facility shutdown, it was only logical that I could come along for the ride! My vacation days are limited, so this was a great opportunity that I did not want to miss. And, more importantly, it was yet another excuse to return to the beautiful American Southwest, where, one day, I will live. With more severe snowy winters in NE OH and more times I make Andy return to the beautiful American Southwest, my diabolical plan will one day succeed!!!
