Our plan was to meet up with the Turquoise Trail by way of Sandia Crest. Well, we decided to take NM Route 165. The warnings of the road being closed in the winter and no turnarounds did not phase us. And the fact that most of the road is unimproved (i.e., not paved) also did not stop us. Well, let's just say that we are not taking that road again any time soon. We will take the smoother route next time. This picture shows the only time that there was a guard rail along the road.
