White Sands National Monument - Holloman AFB, NM

This was definitely surreal. The white sand is made of gypsum. Sleds are available for purchase so that visitors can ride down the sandy slopes. What can be better than sleigh riding in shorts and a tee shirt? They even plow the sand to clear the road! Walking on the dunes, we felt like we were in a sci-fi movie.
